The organisation wanted improve enhance the Data Protection (DP) training that was already on offer. All new starters to the organisation had to do DP training initially, and then again annually. One issue was that people who were already expert in Data Protection, had to click through the same content each year for compliance purposes. Another issue was that if the learner failed the assessment within the initial course, they were given additional attempts using the same questions.
I utilised branching within the design of this course so that at the beginning, the learner was given the option whether they wanted to test-out or not. If they chose not to, they had to complete the full course content with a assessment at the end. However, if they did choose to test-out, they would do an assessment which if they failed would require them to also complete the content as above. If they however chose to test out but passed, then their annual training could be done in 5 minutes, rather than 20.
I also created seven questions banks which each contained 5 – 10 questions. Each of the seven banks related to a specific topic. It then meant that whenever the assessment was done, it pulled through random questions from each of the 7 topics. This ensured that if learners failed the assessment, they were presented with fresh questions.
